Throughout Hurricane Florence, Verizon cell phone service was non-existent at our home in Newport, NC. I would like to know what exactly was the problem with our service and what if anything has been done to ensure we don't have the same total lack of communication capability the next time we have a hurricane here. The only means to communicate for over a week at our home was when one of our daughters visited with her cell phone that was using AT&T cell phone service... That service provided both cell and data capability throughout the storm week...

Perhaps Verizon's towers were in a location which were hit harder than the locations AT&T's towers were?
Landlines will always be a more reliable phone service than any cellular provider will be in the near future.

Can I expect to get an actual response from Verizon on this forum, or just opinions from other customers? First time I have been on here and the only place I found where I could actually ask a question about service (or lack thereof)...

This is primarily a peer to peer public community forum and not a direct link to Customer Service. If a VZW rep does respond, it can be a couple of days.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

A) this is a customer to customer forum.
B) sometime during natural disasters tower don't work. They are not magic. Did you ask the power company why the power went out? Oh and if you power did go out guess who power the cell towers?......

Is this a real question? You know cell towers don't have magic hurricane repellent, right?
If a Verizon cell tower is in a bad position in a storm and ATT's tower isn't, guess who will have coverage in that area? This would be no different if the tower locations were switched cept someone would be ranting on ATT's forum instead.
Be like saying McDonald's sucks compared to Burger King because a storm knocked a tree onto McDonald's. Come on, man.
