DIssapointed to find only iMessage texts included with international data plan. Regular texts 50 cents out, 5 cents in.

AT&T allows unlimited texts and 3 levels of data that lower in price. T-Mobile international is free.

Verizon, your greed amazes me.

because text messaging is not data it is a text message. and imesaging is data.   then switch to those carries if they meet your needs

Verizon doesn't have towers or any network subsidiary outside of the United States so they can't offer these deals like the others. It isn't greed it roaming. You can text with an app like TextFree over data and avoid per message charges.
