Why can't I upgrade early?

Can anyone explain to me why Verizon is SO strict on upgrading your phone early?

I have been dealing with the same broken iphone for 6 months, the screen is cracked, I have to talk on speaker to hear anyone and it drops calls all the time! All Verizon keeps telling me is "I'm sorry, try our edge program".  Oh really, except the fact that your phone has to be in GREAT condition which I clearly state every time that mine is not!  My upgrade is in about a month now and still cannot get an early upgrade.  I think it's so ironic that they start charging $30 for an upgrade fee and then push your upgrade date to the full 24 months shortly after.  We have 5 lines and have been with Verizon for years and years, and before that we were with Altel that they bought out, why show them loyalty when they show us none?  Needless to say I'm shopping around at different carriers.  Sad that I have to drop Verizon after so many years and so much money spent but there has got to be something better out there!

You could also try the Device Payment Plan for a new device. This spreads out the full retail cost over 12 months with a $2/month service fee. You could also try a site such as swappa.com.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Why is it no one wants to adhere to their contracts? The length of time to upgrade to a really low priced device is the carrot to get you to buy the device, get into a contract and have a new device.

Verizon Wireless did not break your device, you did. There are options in this case. If you had supplemental insurance the device would have been replaced but you have to pay a sliding deductible. Going to cost you money.

You can buy at full retail well there it is no contract after the contract ends, but you shell out $400-$800 for the phone.

But no upgrade fee. So you spend hundreds to save $30...??

You can put another borrowed device or one you had previously on the line and upgrade when you are eligible.

or you can wait and get another greatly reduced price on the newest phones and have another two year contract and pay $30 you are still ahead since you saved hundreds on the device so the $30 is small in comparison.

lastly change providers and shell out yet more money to leave, then more to buy your devices and possibly have terrible coverage on the new provider.

Many choices just make the right one.

Good Luck

So you broke your phone, want to get a new one for give or take $100, and want to do this before you have fulfilled the agreement you already made?

I don't see how Verizon is at fault for any of that........

Good luck with your new provider Smiley Happy
