I was surprised to find out the deductible for my iPhone 5C is $149. I could not find anywhere on the Verizon website that lists specifically and clearly what you're getting for your insurance coverage. And why does the deductible vary from phone to phone? My homeowners and car insurance deductible is a set amount. I find Verizon's sub-contracting to Asurion and lack of clear communication deceptive and plan to file a complaint with the Minnesota Attorney General.

Having Asurion protection on your phone is a great way to protect your self should the device ever become lost, stolen or damage. Some plans even include an extended warranty to help protect against manufacture defects after the 1 year runs out. Different devices cost different amounts so Asurion has different deductibles depending on the type of device you have. Some phones even a year or two old can still cost $500-$600 to replace! I have include some helpful links for you as well.

Verizon is not allowed to inure their own devices. It is illegal. That is why they use Asurion. All carriers do. The monthly premium and deductible are set by Asurion and Asurion only. When you purchase a new device you get an letter in the mail and it includes all the term of service from Asurion in a pamphlet. Don't quote me but I think that this is a law and it has to be sent. Even still. You can read all of the terms on www.asurion.com.
