What is Verizon doing to compete with Sprint promo that cut the bill in half to switch to Sprint?

Maintaining an extensive and superior network so they do not have to offer marketing gimmicks that hurt profits, like Sprint.

Verizon offers similar discounts, too, when you purchase a full retail price phone after you complete your contract. You do realize to qualify for this offer from Sprint, you CANNOT purchase a subsidized phone, but a full retail price phone which in most cases would run you $600+? How many $600+ phones do you plan on purchasing at once?
Additionally, this offer only applies to your base calling plan, not any data you would have to have active on your account.
There is ALWAYS small print in ANY offer from ANY carrier. Most people tend to disregard that, though.

All in all it comes down to about a 3% savings if you take the cheapest full retail phones. If you don't you will easily be spending more. Oh and with that plan you get less priority on their network than a prepaid customer.
