I went to take advantage of the black Friday prices so that I can upgrade my phone and they said I must pay cash. Can someone from Verizon explain to me what the hell is the difference between accepting cash and a credit card is?? Seriously so I must come in with 300 cash so I can get the phone I want?? Needless to say no one would help and now the phone I wanted is back to it's regular price and I must pay an extra 100 bucks for it. I feel like Version did not want me to get the sale price so they screwed me. I will wait for both my contracts to end and will take my business elsewhere.

I personally cannot fathom why verizon wants cash for the deal. Was this told to you at a store? Was this through online? Was this over the phone?
The problem often arises if they (verizon) believe fraud may be involved, or it could have been a decline on the authorization or there was a problem with your payment method in the past.
I know deals have qualifiers and set time limits. It is possible you were not eligible for the upgrade at that price.
Too many variables to give a definite answer.
Good Luck

The obvious difference is that a credit card can be defaulted upon with payment never being made.

Your title says it all. Its a cash only account, hence the reason to only accept cash.......
And just like rcschnoor said, the difference is that you can make a payment with a card where it defaults. The funds won't be there or you could cancel the payment etc. Which would mean you'd have a new phone and Verizon wouldn't get their money.

But that has no bearing on Verizon Wireless. That is an issue between the credit card company and their card holder.
Verizon only cares if their bills don't get paid. They could care less about the card issuers.

That may be, but I simply pointed out the difference between cash and credit which is what was asked.

A definition of cash versus a credit card is quite easy. Cash is instant payment, Credit is deferred payment.for goods and services.
You cannot default on cash.
