There are several factors here.  There are always 2 sides to every story.  You are telling your side and I know when I'm "selling" my side of a story, the tendency is to make my side sound good.  For example, in your senario,  Your dad just "raised his voice"  but the manager when you were outside "yelled".  There's a difference.  I yell when I want my son to hear me when he's down at the end of our block, but when discussing something with my wife, I might raise my voice to emphasize my point.  Big difference in the overall volume.  Did she really yell?

Is the problem that the phone you were issued doesn't work at all or is just not working as it should in a specific area?  I'm guessing by your post that they want to issue you a certified pre-owned, and you want a new phone.  It depends on how long you've had your phone.  If you've had it for 14 days or less then you should get a new phone as a replacement.  If you've had the phone longer than 14 days, then the contract you or your dad signed says Verizon has the option to issue you a certified pre owned or a new phone.  But this decision is at their discretion.

As far a the manager threatening you, (or was it your dad as he was the one who was disturbing customers) with calling the police,  she was obviously feeling threatened or at least, was worried about the customers in her store.

Another option, if you feel you have a case, is small claims court.  It ususally doesn't cost a lot to file but it does consume time.  If you need a phone, and don't want to work with Verizon, you'll need to get an account with another carrier.  If you don't absolutely NEED a phone, then it doesn't matter.

However, without a ton more information that's a lot more specific, it's hard to be to specific with my opinion.  These situations that escalate to the point that yours has probably don't have much chance of ending well.

I don't know at this point if there is anything that Verizon could do to satisfy you, so maybe at this point, it would be best if you terminate your relationship with Verizon as soon as possible.

Best of luck to you whatever happens or you decide to do.

Well what i thought about Dirbon is if there is another Store in the Area he could go there as an Option to conduct his business to the Matter of Exchanging the Unit..If that could be done that it might not be to bad.

My thoughts are

A) You can end you contract NOW. Why wait

B) No one cares, just leave Verizon. No need to post your story here. That is not what this forum is for.

Actually I DO care, and appreciate someone having the moxie to post an experience like this. These experiences shouldn't be happening, and if they are, it's indication that there is issue with Verizon's corporate policy regarding phone exchange and replacement. Had that (Bloop) of a manager had the decency to do what's right by the customer, i.e. give the kid a new phone, hose daddy down to cool him off and send them both out happy, instead of trying to foist someone else's old lemon on him just because contract says they can, and corporate policy says they must, this kind of confrontation could have easily been avoided. But I suppose in this bad economy, sticking to the corporate line to protect self-interest and job security is more important than customer satisfaction

Certainly doesn't do much for Verizon's image in the eyes of the prospective buying public. An image which is becoming seriously tarnished in the eyes of many forum posters on many blogs, quarterly churn and financial reports notwithstanding.

Agreed

If the poster is underage or is on their Dad's account and not an Account Manager, they would need the Account Owner, i.e., Dad, to conduct business on their behalf.

Although we will never know the whole story, we never do, only one side and it is NEVER Verizon's side of the story.

I find it interesting, also, that the father "raised his voice" while the manager was "yelling". Seems like that may show some bias in the story.

Bottom line is by "raising his voice", the father was trying to intimidate the manager. The manager had every right to ask him to leave. I also assum if he was "raising his voice", he wasn't easily persuaded to leave either, which may have led to the "threat" of police intervention.

If you are outside of the 14 day return period, the chances of getting a replacement "on the spot" at a Verizon store is very minimal since they do not keep a stock of refurbished devices on hand. "Raising one's voice" is not going to help them get any in stock, either. The quickest way to receive a replacement is to call *611 and they will ship one out to you within a couple of days.
