Can anyone help me?  when I try to set up voicemail I dial*86 when message starts I press# but message continues.

Perhaps not for the HTC Desire; my phone was preloaded with it.

You could also try calling your phone from another phone and then pressing pound and putting in your password.

MiiHere has an excellent suggestion to set up your voicemail from another phone first. Simply call your number from the other phone line, when you hear the recording press # to interrupt it and go from there. The system will guide you the rest of the way.
