I am currently up for an upgrade and am thinking of purchasing the Galaxy S4. I currently have an iPhone and have been thinking about getting the iPhone 5 32GB (I could care less that a new phone is coming out in less than a month so save your breath). My question is if I decide I don't want the S4 and return in the 14 day exchange period, will I be charged an activation fee to activate the new phone? I know there is a $35 restocking fee to send the S4 back, and I will also be charged a $30 upgrade fee, so what exactly is refunded and what exactly will be charged with the new phone? Just to clarify (partially for my own sake), if I get the S4, pay for the phone, the upgrade fee, and taxes is that entire total refunded to me? And then if I get the iPhone 5 am I charged for the phone, the activation fee, the restocking fee, and potentially another upgrade fee? If someone could clarify that'd be great... If I am going to be charge a ridiculous amount of fees I'll just make a decision to commit to one phone before the first purchase. Thanks!
The activation fee was only applied when you opened the account.
There would only be one upgrade fee per line per upgrade eligibility.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
I would spend a couple hours or so in the store playing with both phones. You are making a 2 year commitment, might as well take a 'Free' test drive first.
And yes, you should care about Apple releasing a new phone as the iPhone 5 may get discounted, the new Phone may start at 32gb for $199, or you may miss out on a feature (such as 20% more battery life) you did not even know about.
My current iPhone 4 is suffering from serious issues (my own fault - I dropped it) - I can barely make a phone call and it randomly turns off and on, and the date and time are wrong, so I don't really have a choice in caring about the new iPhone despite knowing it will drop the price of current phones. I I've asked to borrow people's old phones, but all my friends and close family have AT&T or their old phones broke
Ahh...fully understandable then. I keep an old Palm Pixi as a backup I can switch to in the need of an emergency myself. We are about 30 days out from the availability date of the next iPhone, if all rumors are true.
A broken phone is never any fun lisch67! Do you have an equipment insurance plan? Have you checked your upgrades by dialing #UPG? We have options to meet your needs!

Yes... I have insurance, but I was also up for an upgrade. I didn't want to spend $169 for the replacement phone when I could get a new phone for $199, but I was also trying to hold out to see if there was going to be a new iPhone announcement in September to see if it would drop the price of the current iPhone. I played with the idea of switching to a droid for many reasons, but ultimately decided that I am an iPhone person tried and true. I was also just concerned with shelling out a bunch of money for the iPhone when it's going to be cheaper in a month, but that's always the case with technology.
Also, the money issue was a huge factor (it was tight this month because I just moved) but, I found out that I could part of the cost of my phone on my bill, which is so awesome!! I am glad I could pay for part of the phone up front and put the rest on my bill for next month when I have more funds available, it took some of the pressure off of my decision, so I went with the iPhone 5. Thanks everyone for your help!
