Upgrade Charge

I am beyond frustrated at this point with verizion.  Since when do we receive a $30 upgrade charge????? I have been a verizon customer for over 12 years and upgrade my phone every two years like we are allowed.  I have NEVER paid to upgrade my phone!!!!!  It would be nice for someone to let you know they have changed their policies or now have a new way to squeeze extra money out of our pockets.  I have always spoke highly of Verizon and recommended their services to friends and family members looking for a new carrier.  That all ends today Smiley Sad  I myself will be looking for a new carrier seeing as this charge supposively can not be corrected.  So disappointed with their customer service rep that I spoke with and how this was handled.  $30 REALLY...when you just paid a few hundred dollar for a new phone.  UGH

This subject is beat to death.

They have charged the upgrade fee for quite some time now.

Other providers also charge an upgrade fee and it is more than what Verizon does so leaving to avoid the charge is pointless.

Leaving to avoid a upgrade charge is not pointless. You get to avoid the charge port your phone number over, you can usually get a incentive to move from Verizon. Then when you need to upgrade again and if the new company charges a upgrade fee I can move to yet a different phone company. Savings all around

Just to be clear, the upgrade fee is only in effect when you upgrade to a new subsidized phone on contract.  If you upgrade and use Edge payments, or pay full retail for the phone, there is no $30 upgrade fee.  And in top of that, if you have 10 GB or more of data, it is usually the cheaper way to go.

I have not paid any upgrade fees for the last two phone that I purchased from Verizon. Both were purchased in a private owned Verizon Store and the fees were waved for one and refunded as a credit for the other phone. Their are savings to be had if you do your homework on the plans. Buy only what you need.
