One of the other things that might help with data usage overages, is turning off the cellular when home on wifi. All I can say is there is a bug in the switch off. Probably ios8. Where the system does not completely use wifi. I will be trying that this month. I turned off certain apps not to use over cellular and under general setting turned off background app refresh. we will see how the changes help.

It's not a bug it's how iPhoes work. Unless you have cellular off or the phone plugged into a wall charger when you set the phone down and don't use it it does into sleep mode which automatically shut off wi-fi. it's stupid and it's certainly not Verizon's doing it's Apple's doing. I'm glad Androids don't work that way.
