Unable to receive calls - "the number you dialed is not a working number."

Newbie

I just renewed my contract for 2 more years couple of weeks ago..  Previously my primary number ( i have 2 lines) was associated with a Samsung Galaxy Tab and I ported that number over to my new iPhone4S and removed it from my account and everything was working fine since a few days ago when I stopped receiving calls.  When I called my own phone number from another phone (5 different phones now) it said "The number you dialed is not a working number."  I can send and receive txt messages, browse the web and make phone calls (which shows my number on their caller ID) but just can't receive calls.  I spoke with tech support and they tested everything they could think of, had me reset network settings on my phone and said everything was loking proper on their end.  Has anyone else had anything similar happen because tech support said they've never seen anything like this before...

Thanks in adavance.

Which line did you "upgrade" and renew the contract on?  The line associated with the tablet or the line associated with the phone?  And what do you mean by "removed it from my account?"  What did you remove?

You can no longer use a tablet or mifi line upgrade to purchase a discounted phone and swap the phone to another line (it sounds like this is what you tried to do.  Correct me if I've misunderstood)

Me Too!

Did you ever get a resolution?  If so how?

I am not even a Verizon customer.  I ported a number from one carrier to another.

Both are not Verizon.

However, nobody with Verizon phones can call me.  Other cell carriers, land lines, google voice lines, can all call.

I have had people I know with Verizon with plans from 3 different states try calling me.  All get the not a working number message.  Very annoying since V has many customers in my area.

Hi webmasterjeff,

I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing! I would defintiely recommend reaching out to your carrier to address this issue. If your number(s) were never part of Verizon Wireless, we would not have access resolve this for you.

Thanks for the reply,

My carrier has been checking into it. I have 7 friends on Verizon and all

7 of the 7 get the same message.

My carrier looks into my call log and does not even see evidence that a

call was attempted.

I have tested other carriers, land lines, a VOIP line, and the issue is

exclusive to Verizon.

Could someone look into this on Verizon's side?

I think only Verizon tech will be able to see where the stoppage is, since

it does not make it to my cell at all.

I can provide my number. I did not want to put into this email in case

this reply automatically shows up in the forum.

Thanks,

Jeff

Are you kidding? Start service with you? You just proved that your

customer service for technical issues is non-existent. I would not come

over to you if the service was $10 a month for unlimited calling. Not

after this experience. If you look at my issue you will see that the issue

is clearly a Verizon issue. You can act like it does not exist because I

am not your customer, but I just made you aware of the fact that all of

your customers (or at least 7) cannot call a particular number, but you do

not lift a finger to help them or me. No thanks. I will stick with more

cost effective providers who actually want their customers to be able to

call all legitimate numbers.

The solution is to have your cell provider rebroadcast ownership of the ported number.

Webmasterjeff, When did you notice that your friends that have Verizon has not been able to reach out to you? Are you able to get any text messages from these numbers? I also see that there is a later post from the 27th that shows you were able to get this issue resolved. If your friends that have Verizon are still having some issues with their phones or with the network please have them reach out to us. this way we can review the account to make sure everything is set up correctly.
