Trying to help son with his payment screw up by Verizon.

My son switched bank accounts and gave the NEW information to a Verizon rep at a local store where he lives.  The payment tried to come through his old bank account, which I am monitoring for him - and was returned because of NSF - well duh - that's why he gave Verizon his new bank information - so he called Verizon and gave them the NEW bank information AGAIN - same thing - tried to take it out of his old account.  HE has now accumulated $58 in NSF charges because of VERIZON.  So - last night AGAIN - he called Verizon and gave them the NEW bank information AGAIN.  When will they get this straight - and VERIZON better reimburse him the $58 because it was VERIZON'S ERROR.  What else can this momma do to help her son get this straightened out?

I would call the bank first, and explain the situation to them.  Far easier to get NSF fees waved, than trying to get Verizon to pay/reimburse (likely will never happen) a 3rd party bill.

I am not an authorized user on my son's account - he is almost 21 - needs to do things on his own, but this mom still helps when he has questions.  My son once again called Verizon THIS morning and the guy would not help him unless he made a payment by credit card or debit card (because it's past due now of course because of this whole mess) - Ethan tried to explain to him that Verizon has screwed up 3 times when he has tried to pay his bill.  The guy wouldn't even look up Ethan's account.  So - Ethan ended up going to a store and paid the bill - but we still don't know if his account is straightened out, or if this will happen when he tries to pay bill again.  All I know is Verizon better reimburse him the $58 the bank has charged by son!!!!!

he can switch his account with self-serve options either on my Verizon on a desktop computer or laptop or on the mobile app. as well as he can call the auto pay automated system to switch accounts for auto pay at

He has done all of these options - and they still are trying to put the payment through his old account.  He has also gone into 2 different Verizon stores in the town where he lives.  When he called Verizon the representative wouldn't even look up his account unless my son gave him a debit or credit card to pay the now past due balance and current balance.  Come on - REALLY - I know you can only pay the past due balance, because I have done that!!!

Very irritating!

He went into a Verizon store AGAIN - a different one from the last 2 that he tried in the town where he lives, and was FINALLY able to at least pay the past due balance - we have yet to see if the NEW Bank Account information got switched.  I think your store employees and telephone reps need EXTRA TRAINING on switching someone's bank account information!  THIS BETTER BE TAKEN CARE OF - if not, you will be losing 5 customers!

It sounds as if your son has his account set up for autopay and the old banking information has yet to be changed.

Has your son logged into his MyVerizon account, looked at his autopay settings and changed the banking information HIMSELF if it has not yet been done?

He needs to log in to his account and change the information he wants to use as payment. They cannot do that in a store. It is a user initiated and managed thing. No one else can do that except him.
