Three Phone Questions

To start off, this is three lengthy questions, but before I ask them, I am going to give you some background on the situation. My mom went from having a basic phone to a smartphone, the Samsung Charge 4G. She is not liking the idea of the smartphone and she wants to go back to a basic phone. Meanwhile,  my phone, the Droid Incredible 2, fell out of my pocket when I was moving stuff into my new place. The section of the screen cracked and it seemed fine, but in the past months, I haven't been able to hit some areas on my phone. I can't even dial 4,5, and 6. Verizon can't do much since the screen cracked and it voids warranty and I can get my upgrade in April. So, the first question is if my mom were to buy a basic phone, could she drop the data package and use the basic phone right away? The second question is if I were to buy the same phone or a different phone not from Verizon or even take my mom's phone if she is able to downgrade to a basic, would they be able to transfer my plan over to that phone? The third and final question is if I were able to move to a new phone, would that count as an upgrade? Any help is welcomed.

Trev, thanks for the post and giving us some context to your situation. Yes, your mom can move to a basic phone and drop her data right away. You can also use her phone on your line and it will not count as an upgrade. You can also file an insurance claim here: http://bit.ly/07CrqPK (if you have insurance). Also, if you want to switch the phones out, you can do that right here: http://bit.ly/xB4iTc !^SP
