Have J3 v . 

I would like text to speech so that when I receive a call or message, I can hear which contact is sending.

GWSSAS, I want to make sure your experience with your phone is a great one. Based off of what you’re asking, you want the phone to read out the message or caller. The software has a built-in feature called TalkBack which does just that. You can follow these steps to turn the feature on. http://vz.to/2cfxcjI

I tried that.    The phone speaks about everything EXCEPT it will not announce name of caller/messenger.

There is no setting for Announcing name of caller/messenger.
