I currently have a 3G phone and a data package. If somebody gives me a 4g nexus, can I use it with my current package or will I be forced to sign a new contract even though I didn't buy a new phone?
No you won't be force into a new contract. You will need a new 4G LTE SIM card for your line to use in the Nexus. Also make sure that the previous owner doesn't give you their SIM card.
