Single Line $45. plan--gone as of March 13th

Looks like it was too good to be true. A smartphone line that had unlimited talk&text plus 250mb of data for very light users. Its been taken off the website,

as of 3/13. Now, you can only get the $60 1gb single line or new $75. 2gb single line. Both have unlimited talk&text. Low use customers have just lost that

option, unless the company brings it back. I hope they do. I missed it by one day.

Actually they have the 250 MB More Everything plan for $55 a month. The $45 plan was always a promotional plan. Which mans temporary. So anyone that wanted it but didn't get it well that's on them.

A couple of weeks ago I visited my local Verizon retail store with questions about the $45 & $60 single line plans. I have 2 lines and was planning to switch one to each of those. We were getting ready to go on vacation and knew we would use a fair amount of data which I discussed with the in-store rep. I specifically asked him if the $45 was a promotional, limited time offer to which he emphatically said NO, that this was their single line plan going forward and that I would be FINE waiting until we returned from vacation to switch my plan.

Well, I just got off of the phone with Verizon and they won't honor it. I've been with them for 10 years but will definitely consider other options/companies now. I understand that plans change but I don't like the way they handled this. I don't believe the in-store rep wasn't being dishonest (he had no reason to be), he just was misinformed, but unfortunately that has left this customer dissatisfied. AT&T is our cable/internet/home phone provider and they have been begging us to switch. This might just push us over there.

A nearly identical thing happened to me. I started a new single line plan on 2/14/14 and was assured by a local Verizon store employee that I could start with the $60. 1GB plan to see how much data I would use and then switch to the 250MB plan in the future.  On 3/13/14 after about 2 weeks and less than 100MB data use I went in and asked to be switched to the 250MB plan. I was told that switching in the middle of my monthly bill cycle would not be a good idea and would really not save much money for the month. I was instructed to return at the end of my billing month and they would make the change at that time. I returned on 3/14/14 and was told that the 250MB plan was no longer available and I cold not make the change!  The employee at the store called Verizon customer service and was told that there was nothing that they could do. So, due to  misinformation by the original and a second Verizon employee I am faced with paying an additional $360. over the next 2 years for data that I will never use. I'm no longer sure that changing from my Sprint plan was such a good idea. I definitely will not be switching the other lines on my Sprint account until I get satisfaction from Verizon for this gross misrepresentation on the part of their employees.

I saw it was a limited time promo and jumped on it the day it came out. A promo is like a sale, once it's gone, it's gone and they don't have to give you the deal. The "new" $60/$75 plans are limited time promos too so they will be gone in a month or two as well. Why do they offer then change the promo? To see how high they can push the price structure.  Why are the $45 loss leaders short term? Because Verizon;s investors hate them and demand higher returns than these plans yield. So because of "fiduciary duty" to the stock holders, "there is nothing they can do."  Makes me wonder how long the $55  More Plan (which adds tethering for the $10) is going to last before stock holders start screaming about THAT.

The plan seems to be back again as of 12:25 Central Time on March 17, 2014:  onsumer/shop/shop-data-plans/single-line-data-plans.html.

It looks like you have to call to get the plan though.

Sorry, I tried to edit my previous post but it wouldn't allow it. The link is incomplete, but it doesn't matter as it now points to the $60 page again. I printed the $45 page to PDF but doubt that would do much good with customer service.

One problem I see with your issue is that you have 2 lines. That plan, while in effect was a SINGLE LINE plan only.

Meaning even if it was available now, you would not be able to switch a 2 line account to it anyways.

It has to be a single line account to get it, and same goes for the $60 plan.

I went into a Verizon store yesterday and tried to sign up for the $45 unlimited 250MB plan.  I specifically asked 3 reps if the plan is still available.  All three said yes, including the store manager.  After waiting in line and spending an hour there, the rep even brought out my new phone and I was ready to sign the new contract, the rep then told me the plan is no longer available.  Even the employees at Verizon store did not know they pulled out the plan.  How ridiculous!  But the website still shows the $45 plan.  It's just you cannot add it to your shopping cart.  I hope they can bring it back soon.

Typical of Verizon.  A Byzantine price structure so complicated that even Verizon reps don't understand it, then Verizon refuses to honor misstatements made by their reps.  I had three different issues trying to upgrade my lines and convert from a grandfathered family plan.  Each time I got a different story, each time the next rep refused (or was unable) to honor the offer/information provided by the previous rep.  Was told VZW would honor a sale on the Note 3 if I waited until a number port was complete, then they wouldn't (ironically I went to Best Buy and got the same deal, then Verizon reoffered the deal after I purchased from BB- too little too late), was told my employer discount would apply to the $45 250 MB plan, then after I selected that plan was told it wouldn't, was told I could switch between 250mb and 1 gb plan as needed when I traveled, well, the 250mb plan is already gone so that was wrong too.

I've been with Verizon for over 10 years as a customer and actually sold Verizon cell phones in my electronics store before that.  VZW is rapidly overtaking Xfinity for worst customer service in the tech industry for the same reason- pricing and policies so confusing and misleading they couldn't honor them if they wanted to.  And they obviously don't want to.
