beleive it or not this plan was requested by many people

they said they never use data, and therefore didnt want to pay for 2gb per line and never use ut

Except Verizon upped the pricing on the data. 2 GB was $30 now 1 GB is $50. Should have keep the old data pricing and you wouldn't have had nearly as many complaints. I think what people that use little data wanted was lower than 2 GB tiers.

nope, they requested the ability to share 1 data plan between phones

you can still do a 2gb plan per line

for 3 lines thats $90, or share 10gb for $100

You forget in that share scenario there is a device charge. Under the old plan 700 minutes with unlimited texting for 4 lines was $120. Now 4 smartphones is $160. Drop the per line charge to $30 and I'll switch to Share Everything TODAY.

look back in the forums form a year or more ago, there were many requests

there is no what you got 4 lines with smartphones under the old plan for 120, it was 120 just for the data

then 9.99 per line.

2 smartphones under the old plan was over $120

Apparently, stores only have the option of switching customers to share everything.

3rd party resellers only have the choice for the Share Everything plans.

So buy from a real store. You get ripped off less at a direct store than some 3rd party joke store

I love it when you people say "this is what people have been requesting for a long time".

No, it isn't.  What people were requesting was a shared data plan that actually saved them some money, not just a "restructured" plan that allows them to share but still costs them about the same. Cost was the issue.  Data had gotten to the point that it was cost prohibitive for people with family plans to even consider smartphones.  The data alone on 4 smartphones was $120 on top of the calling plan and access charges. What we wanted was a price break from cellular bills that have climbed to the point that they rival a car payment.  What we got was simply a shell game, moving fees from one shell to another, increasing some, reducing others, and then telling us we got what we asked for, even though the bottom line didn't really change. I'm not that stupid, but it seems a lot of you are.

With this new Share Everything plan, many will pay the same. Some will save a little, $10, maybe $20. Many will pay more.  And many will also lose data (unlimited).  No one is going to save much money, which is actually what people were asking for.  So you can shake the pom poms for Verizon all you want for "coming through with family data sharing"...but all they really did was design a plan to increase their profits on data even further, at the customers' expense.  Some of you are just to stupid to see it.  Rah, Rah, Sis Boom Bah!  Goooooo Team!!

no....they were specifically saying that they would ALWAYS use wifi so they didn't want to pay $30 per line for data because they'd never use it. well now a family of 4 can split 1 gig for $50. prior to the plan, 4 lines with data and text would be at least $250 (with minimal minute allowance. with this plan they can do it for $210 (with unlimited minutes). if you go back and look at the threads, the primary complaints were that they shouldn't have to pay for data at all if they were going to use only (or mostly) wifi. these plans address that. i don't like them, but there was demand for it. i think it's absurd to believe that 4 lines can share 1 gig. however, my dad, step-mom, and 2 (much) younger brothers all have iphones on one plan and use between 1-2 gigs between all 4.

To the original poster.

A plan change is not required the new plan in comparison is a big difference.

Unlimited minutes

Unlimited texting

Free Hotspot

Your probably not receiving all those.

If you don't need it, stay on your current plan. Nationwide plans are not phased out. They're still existent.

I disagree.  The primary complaint was that they were having to purchase more data than they needed because they couldn't share it.  WiFi was not a big issue, as most people don't have access to WiFi often enough to make a significant difference.  Very few of us needed more minutes, so the new unlimited calling minutes is a moot point.  And Verizon dramatically increased the cost of each GB of data, just because it is now "shared", as well as dramatically increasing the basic access cost of each phone (to cover those unwanted/unneeded minutes), so that many people are still paying the same or more.

I admit, some are saving, but many others are not.  And those that are saving, are typically not saving enough to yell out "Whoo hoo!  Thanks, Verizon!  That's what we wanted!".  As Verizon's phones become more and more data intensive, customer's data use will continue to increase, meaning that any small savings they might now see with the new Share plans will likely be more than wiped out as they adjust their plans accordingly.  It's nothing but a big shell game, and you fell for it.  Cellular prices are out of control.  Period.

Consider the fact that I can get 500 channels on my TV, 2 DVRs, 5 TVs sharing all of those channels 24-7, plus superfast internet speeds with UNLIMITED DATA, also shared among multiple PCs/laptops with the addition of a simple wireless router, all for just over $100 month.  And you are going to try to tell me that my 4-line cellular service, with severely limited data, much slower speeds, and constant billing errors (small, but there nonetheless) is honestly worth $250 mo.?

Verizon executives have clearly stated that the Family Share plan is specifically designed to maximize their profits on data.  Can't get much clearer than that, can you?  Enjoy your Kool-Aid.
