I got this garbage call, too and the Caller ID was "VOICEMAIL"  No recently installed apps, as an fyi.

One should never input anything as the recordings asks; hang up, and try sending a text or making a call to Verizon customer service before accepting that Verizon is actually calling you to tell you your account is suspended.

Phishing terrible.

I'm on the "do not call list"  It really does nothing.  I still get spam and robo calls constantly.  Telemarketers still call daily.  However on the account suspended call mentioned above, the call comes through as your own number to try to make it look like Verizon is contacting you.  I have multiple phones on my account as all my kids are on my account.  Almost every phone on my account has been hit with this scam call withing the last week or so.  I have told my kids to ignore it and not to respond in any way to calls saying your account is suspended until you verify your information.   Problem is, the kids are more apt to fall for it.  So my question is, seeing as I'm the only master user on my account,  if the kids fall for it and give up information, would the scammer still be able to affect my account seeing as the kids do not have master user rights?

Nitrous_Moxide, receiving a call from your Voicemail can indeed be worrisome. This is considered Spoofing, which is not caused by an error in the network or your phone. Spoofing usually happens when the calling party uses a paid service (like Spooftel, Spoofer, or Spoof Card), which allows the calling party to change the message sent as Caller ID. You can click here: http://spr.ly/660013x9s to learn more about Spoofing. You're right to reach out to us directly if you have questions or concerns about a number contacting you, rather than providing information to the caller. I hope this information helps to provide clarity.

I understand your concern with someone gaining access to your account. To gain access your account someone would need to know your My Verizon password, 4-digit billing pin, or your secret questions to reset this information. If you think any of this information has been compromised, we would recommend changing these. Here is a link with the steps to reset you billing pin. https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/account-pin-faqs/#forget

I had the exact same happene to me it was my number calling me. With an automated voice saying my  account of been suspended. Sounds like it’s no use to get a hold of Verizon on these issues. The phone call occurred on November 21, 2019

Hello Cat1202! We know the importance of stopping these spam calls, and we would love to help in any way possible. Please keep in mind that we would never reach out to you, and ask for your personal information. We are currently working with the FCC to stop these, however, for the meantime, we recommend using our Call Filter app to help you identify spam calls. Here is more information: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/call-filter-faqs/

We hope this helps.

I was just called by own mobile number to inform me that my account was being suspended for irregular activity.  I was put in a Que and waited for the caller who identified himself as Verizon customer service. He had a very strong accent and he asked me how he could help me, so I asked him what he wanted since he called me, then he abruptly hung-up. The scary part is that I just downloaded the verizon call filter app last week, so They called using my own mobile number.

jamesa8, receiving these types of calls can certainly be alarming, but no need to worry as I am happy to help you with this concern today. I'm not a fan of pesky calls either. Robocalls are something that unfortunately is becoming way too common. These robocalls are not affiliated in any way with Verizon Wireless. We suggest that you register on the National Do Not Call Registry http://spr.ly/6189D2hJf. If you are not having success with our Call Filter feature, you can look for a possible 3rd party app that may have the blocking/screening capabilities that you're looking for. One other thing you may want to do is file a complaint with the FCC. Here's their link http://spr.ly/6189D2huD. Lastly, I know that changing your number isn't the most favorable option, but it might be something to consider. You can do that for free right from your My Verizon account http://spr.ly/6180D2hJA. I am confident  that at least one of my suggestions will help.
