Hello,
I am currently eligible to upgrade the phones on my plan at a discount, by renewing my two year contact. I have two phones on my plan and was wondering, could I choose to upgrade one phone now and renew my contract and upgrade the second phone later while still getting this discount? Or would I have to upgrade both phones at once in order to get the discount on both.

From Simplified Data Choices Match Customer Lifestyles:
"Yes, Verizon customers can keep and renew their two-year contract, and take advantage of any subsidized devices we offer as part of that contract. (A good example: you’ve been waiting to buy a soon-to-be-launched smartphone on Verizon’s network. Yes, you can renew your current contract once that cool new handset launches – and take advantage of subsidized contract pricing)."

Verizon is no longer offering 2 year contacts and discounted phones. Your options are as seen on the website....

I just had a discounted phone in my cart. Specifically the HTC One M9, but there were other phones available as well.

I am under the understanding that if you currently have a contract, they are allowing you to renew the contract and receive a subsidized ball. New customers are not eligible for contracts. I may be wrong, but I have read thisseveral different places.

This is what I've heard too. I think if they were to change their plan to the new plans, that 2 year contract option would go away.
I'd crunch some numbers and make sure doing another 2 year contract is cheaper. The access line will be $40 on a 2 year contract and $20 with a device payment option.

Why would you want to get a contract anyway?

The bigger question is, when Verizon has announced they are ending 2 year contracts, why are they not gone?
its a rhetorical question. It's in an effort to retain customers who have older plans and don't want the device payment plan. Transition isn't easy.

When I sold these devices and services it was very hard for me to understand the benefit of Edge/DPP. I didn't get it. Now, it is very clear. I still say that there will be no ability to get a contract before 2016 is out.

With Sprint joining the fray, I am sure you are right.
THe end result will be a drop in prices for service AND devices. After a whole lotta complaining about both.
