RECYCLE OLD DEVICE AT VERIZON COMPANY STORE?

Have been a Verizon Wireless Customer for 25 years, Family Plan, and have accumulated a box of old wireless cell phones.  Looking on Verizon Wireless website, clearly indicates:

If your device is estimated at $0, Verizon can still recycle it for you. Here’s how:

  1. Place your device from any service provider in a plastic bag. Find a Verizon Wireless retail store near you  to drop off.

Took my collection of old phones to the Verizon store in Lake Grove, Long Island, NY (company owned store.)  Did not see any recycle box, and asked the Salesman about this.  He was unsure, and had the Store Manager come over.  Manager told me "I know nothing" about the above website post, that Verizon has not recycled old phones "for several years", and suggested I bring the box of phones to a nearby Best Buy.  (Which I did - BTW, I purchased my recent unlocked phone from Best Buy - cheaper.)  Just surprised that a big outfit like Verizon Wireless has no in-store provision for recycling old phones.
