Problem accessing web page

I have the Alias 2. The only time I really go onto the web is to check my email. I go to http://m.comcast.net This has always worked before with no problem. It gives me a couple of choices, email, sports, news etc. I am able to read my email. Normally I sign in and then it gives me the above options. However, yesterday when I tried this it takes me right to the choices page. When i click on email it THEN sends me to a sign on screen. Kind of backwards. But when I enter the info and sign in and click on email, it takes me to a page that says if you are seeing this page your browser settings stop you from being redirected to a page that automatically." It then tries to load the NORMAL comcast.net site. Of course I then get a message saying the page is to big. Then  "Out of memory. Memory is cleared and browser goes to homepage." Then it just stays there.............. why is this happening? I hate not being able to get to my mail............

Thanks for any help!

Has this been resolved?  It sounds like it may be a comcast issue...changing the way the site is set up and redirecting you - have you tried calling comcast?

I'm not trying to shift any blame here - just trying to figure out what's happening and it does seem to be comcast's redirection that is causing the issue - sending you to a regular page, that then locks up the mobile browser.

Try clearing your temporary internet files.

  1. From the main screen, press OK to choose MENU.
  2. Select Media Center then press OK.
  3. Select Mobile Web then press OK.
  4. Press the right soft key to choose Menu.
  5. Select Manage Memory then press OK.
  6. Select the desired item then press the left soft key to choose OK.
Note After clearing the Cache or History the device will revert back to the browser.
    Cache:
Visited website content stored on your device. Cache enables your browser to download only the content that has changed since you last visited a website. Since the browser only downloads changed content, pages are loaded faster.
    History:
A listing of URLs (website addresses) that you have recently visited.
    Cookies:
Cookies are used to store information that helps personalize your Web browsing experience. Cookies may contain information including: website preferences, login settings, shopping cart contents and more.
    Auto Fill:
A feature that is used to automatically enter information into online forms.
  7. When prompted, press the left soft key to choose Yes.
  8. Press the left soft key to choose OK.

Thank you for response. A Verizon rep also emailed me these instructions. I tried them but am still unable to access this ONE site. I can access other sites fine. I can also access the m.comcast site on my hubby's phone. Just not on my Alias 2. I also talked to comcast and they can't figure out why. I called verizon for further help, but they also could not help....

Suzy Q:You are exactly right. It would seem it is a comcast issues where I am able to access other sites. I talked to a verizon rep today who was very helpful. She said the same thing. Said comcast must have changed something and my Alias 2 can't handle the site. Comcast has issued a "ticket" and someone should be in touch w/me within 48 hours. So we'll see............Thanks for help!

Please let us know when / how / if this gets resolved; I'm sure you aren't the only one with an Alias 2 trying to access your Comcast page and we can pass on the information, helpful or not.

I'm having a similar problem with my LG enV2.  I can access Comcast's mobile site at m.comcast.net but when I attempt to log-in to e-mail I'm redirected to the full comcast.net site which the phone browser can't handle.  Used to work fine < month ago on mobile.comcast.net but since comcast "upgraded" they don't recognize Verizon's server certificate.  Verizion's answer is to sell me their e-mail access for $5/mo (not satisfactory).  Comcast's solution is to try and install a new browser on the phone (doesn't work).  Comcast is checking with their website developers.  If I hear something I'll post it here.

Ron: that's EXACTLY the same problem I am having. So frustrating because like you said, it worked up until about a week ago. I called comcast first and that woman told me "I don't SEE any changes or updates that were done." She issued a "ticket" which means someone is looking into it and will contact me. We'll see.

I then called Verizon and they said it's probably something to do w/comcast changing what websites they will allow.

I'm surprised it doesn't work on the Env2 as my hubby has the Env3 and I can access it no problem. Verizon didn't seem to think there was anything they could do. That it's a comcast problem. I do not have a "forced" data package as I had this phone before the change went into effect. I wonder though, what they would do if I did. The ONE site I am really interested in accessing, I can't. I wonder if they would waive the package then? :smileyhappy:

I will also post anything I find out.

Verizon rep told me to get URL settings from Comcast and Verizon could reset these on my phone. I went through all of that. When I called verizon back, the 1st person must have misunderstood and thought I had mobile email. I don't. I was accessing my email via the web. So this was wasted time. He tried different things...again deleted everything, took battery out, put battery back...still unable to read email on m.comcast.net. So he's stumped, comcast is stumped. I'm so glad I don't have a forced data package. My email is the ONLY thing I really go on net for so I'd be **bleep** now that I can't get my email. I can do it fine on husbands env3. I don't get it. Anyone have any other ideas?
