I have always had poor coverage in my local area because we live in a valley in Seneca, PA 16346. We have a network extender to help with having some coverage in our house. I was wondering if there is any way to get better coverage in Seneca, PA. It is even poor along Route 257, the main road thru the area. There is 4G coverage in the Oil City/Franklin, PA area & every once in a blue moon we might pick up 4G in Seneca. Can you please look into this & maybe add some more towers or lease space on other towers to help our coverage? I have also talked to my neighbors & they all seen to have the same issue.

It can take years to get new towers approved. The company has to figure out where the weak spots are and if existing towers can be used to improve the coverage. Then they start looking at the terrain and land for where the ideal location of a new tower could go. Then they have to get the location approved by the local planning commission or whatever jurisdiction that covers the placement of the cellular towers. There is leasing or land purchasing agreements that have be negotiated with the property owner. There is the utility infrastructure that has to be considered including location or fiber optic cable and electric power. If a generator is needed on the site. If the local jurisdiction requires the tower be shared with multiple entities or not. There is also the FCC registration and application for a new site. If you have ever built a new house, just multiple the steps and costs by 10.

Well, I did build my house 17 years ago & the cell coverage is still as bad as it was then. Maybe Verizon should look at this area for a tower.

RPHX2, we definitely understand why you feel this way. Once you have a network extender setup that means you are in a very marginal coverage area. Ann154 did a great job of explaining why that is. In order for the network extender to be ordered we go through troubleshooting, and submit a ticket to our engineers. Your area has definitely been reviewed for improvements. It just takes time.
