Phone Insurance

I am very confused.  Recently my wife, who is on my plan, cracked her iPhone.  She went to the store that she purchased it because she had to because that is where we purchased ESH Tech Insurance.  I have been paying like $12 a month for over a year on this insurance.  The Verizon store said that the Esh Tech that I have been paying for was tied to another phone not on my plan.  [Removed]  Therefore they could not use the insurance that I have been paying for.  However since my phone was up for an upgrade they were able to use that and charge her like $180 for the replacement iPhone.  Obviously not right.  And my Verizon phone gets charged each month by Asurion on my Verizon bill so that at least seems legit.

I feel like I have been totally ripped off.  I have paid over $150 to some Esh Tech company that nobody seems to know how to reach for a phone that was not on my plan.  I have lost my phone's upgrade and had to pay additional money to get my wife a phone.

Please help or I am happy to switch to Sprint.

Thanks,

Jim

Yikes, I share your frustration. I certainly want to get to the bottom of this right away as we certainly don't want you to break up with us. I'm troubled to read that you were paying for Asuion as well as the ESH Tech Insurance. I want to make sure that I am being completely transparent, the only insurance that partners with Verizon is Asurion. The ESH Tech Insurance is not a company that is partnered or sold by Verizon. Did you happen to sign up for this service at an authorized retailer or a national retailer (Target, Wal-Mart, etc)? Was the ESH Tech Insurance billed separate from your Verizon monthly bill?

i never understood the threat to transfer service and why people use it.

Having said that, if you were also paying Asurion in her line you should be able to return the phone and file a claim. Either way it goes, you STILL would have to pay the deductible. But at least you would get your lines upgrade back. Also.....buy her a case.

I would check online to see if you can do the Asurion claim. www.phoneclaim.com/verizon

Yea, I've never seen anything but Asurion partnered with Verizon for insurance since I've been on Verizon since before 2000.
