VERIZON SCAM - STEALING PHONES

My husband, Daughter and I went into Verizon to get service (Left AT&T - HORRIBLE WITH YOUR BILL). Verizon had a promotion at the time, that if you give them your phones that you currently have and get new phones with Verizon, then you would get $450 credit to go towards your new phones that you were getting from Verizon. We gave them our three month old phones and then got our new phones and service ($45mo. for ea. line and $18 mo. for ea. new phone). One month goes by and we check our bill so that we can pay it and there is NO credits for any of our phones that we gave them and they are charging us $55 a line and $34 for each phone. We gave them a call to ask about our credits that we were supposed to get and why we are getting charge so much per line and per phone and they proceeded to tell us that our phones that we had given them were stolen off of their counter out of their store and they were not going to be able to give us credit for those phones because they do not have them and they didn’t have any paperwork on the phones.

DON’T EVER GIVE AWAY YOUR PHONES TO VERIZON!!!

When we first decided to sign up with Verizon, we were wanting to build our daughters credit because she had just graduated from high school and needed to start building her credit so we asked if they could put the service in her name. They checked her credit and she was not going to be able to finance all three phones, so we told them to disregard putting it in our daughters name and proceeded to put it in our name. Three months later my daughter started receiving bills in the mail under her name for a phone and service that she did not even sign up for and six months later it is now sitting in collections and we have filed a police report for identity fraud and Verizon will not delete the account and said that she has to now go through the collection agency to get the problem solved. So Verizon is ruining her credit when she never even had credit before.

Jenamccoy, I'm alarmed to hear of your experience! You should be able to be confident in the process when trading phones in to Verizon, and I'm sorry to hear that your phone's were stolen! I'm also concerned to hear about the account opened in your daughter's name. Please reply to my Direct Message, and we can certainly assist with your concerns in more detail.

Yikes.

That mess sounds you like you went to a janky indirect location instead of a corporate store.

In urgent need of my credits for the phones that I had traded into Verizon. Will be filing a police report against Verizon for the phones that I did not get credit for if this matter is not taken care of immediately. It has been eight months since I gave Verizon my phones.

I still have not received credit for my phones that I gave to. Verizon 7 months. I will be filing a police report for theft charges against Verizon since your company has more than enough time to credit my account.
