Outgoing Caller ID needs to be changed

When I ported my number over from ATT, and my fiance' ported her number over from Sprint, we lost our names on the outgoing caller ID.

Verizon needs to fix that.

Then you probably need to call their customer service number and ask them to do that.

tried that - they say they can do nothing - from what I've researched they're not being factual

The info I have found says all they need to do is update the CNAM entry in the LIDB database

I too believe Verizon needs to provide its customers the right to choose to display their name along with their cell number on others' Caller ID systems.  As a former Alltel customer, I don't accept the explanation I have received from retail store personnel and tech phone support.  To tell me that Verizon is protecting customer privacy by displaying only my location ID is completely unconvincing.  That is a decision I have a right to make.

I was loyal to Alltel because their headquarters were in my city.  I can't say the same about Verizon.  If this feature is not available through Verizon and the company will not provide it to its customers, then I'll be changing wireless companies quite soon.

Caller ID on VZW phones is dependent on two things:

1.) Your line must have the Caller ID feature and not have a Caller ID block. By default all lines have this free Caller ID feature. But things can get messed up in the network switch. You can't add it yourself; you will need to call customer service at 800-922-0204 or *611 from another VZW phone (make sure you have your phone with you). Technical support can reset the feature in the switch and that may fix the problem.

2.) Your name and number appearing on someone else's mobile phone depends on whether they've entered your complete mobile number with the area code in their phone's contact/address list. Verizon doesn't "hard code" your name and number in their network like some landline companies do. If you call a landline number, then many times your phone number along with "Mobile Caller" or the state from which you're calling will be all that is displayed. Some landline phones with caller ID, or separate caller ID boxes, may have the function where users can assign names to them.

Regarding #2 listed above, we're talking about landlines here. Not cell phones. And the info changed IMMEDIATELY after the numbers were ported over, so obviously the issue is on Verizon's end.

I'll try Customer Service again, but not thinking it will do any good.
