Not able to connect to Verizon network

Verizon is changing their network and eliminating my 3G iPhone. It is supposed to happen at the end of the year but I am disconnected as of about 2 weeks ago. No notice that this was happening now. No help to find an alternative. Customer service can't help because all verification codes can only be sent to my phone ... which doesn't work. Has anyone found a way to connect or am I the only one with an old phone??
