New plans may be bad, but punishing me for loyalty is worse.

I have generally been happy with my service, especially when I lived in a rural area.  But now I live in a city and many of my friends have service that is just as good.  I understand that everything is going up in price and I don't use enough data to worry about having to buy more data.  If I am at home or work I am on Wifi anyway.  I have been a customer of Verizon's for 10 years, and the new $30 upgrade fee is total BS and the argument everyone else is doing it so they can get away with it too is even worse.  In the past I was able to get a phone for free, not the latest and greatest but still better than what I had.  I can sign up with a new company and still get a free phone, and get a new contract activation fee waived.  The data throttling is not an issue as I don't use that much, and Verizon does that too.  Only to people with unlimited plans at the moment, but once most people are switched to the new plans everyone will feel it.  I was looking forward to upgrading my phone, now I get to shop around for a new carrier, and in two years shop around for another one.  Everything about Verizon has done nothing but go downhill and I don't see it getting any better.

Long story short, Verizon sucks.

Long story short, Verizon *****.

And that is your option to do, keep changing carriers every 2 years or when your contract is up and you want a new phone. If you have the opportunity to do that, more power to you. Large companies do not reward on loyalty anymore, it is all based on new customers.

Well go to Sprint. Oh wait they'll charge you $36. Or how about at&t. Oh wait they'll charge you $36 also. Well t-mobile only charges $18. So go with them.

Those are the fee's that he would have to pay if he upgraded with the carrier he had at that time, if he jumped after the 2 year contract, he would not be bound to it... Oh, but wait... He will be hit with the activation fee, which Verizon's is $35.. $5 more than the upgrade fee, and I am sure all the carriers charge an activation fee?
