VzW is changing its wireless plans again, effective August 13, 2015. Note that "All new customers, and existing customers who want to move to the new plan, will buy or upgrade to new smartphones using Verizon’s device payment option, formerly known as Verizon Edge, or by paying the retail price.”

Unfortunately, that appears to have a price increase for line access fees for those currently getting the $25 discount as all smartphone line access fees will now be $20 up from $15 with the $25 monthly discount.
12 GB for $80, though is an improvement over 10 GB for $80. How many people are going to complain Verizon does not automatically change their plan to this new rate???

I see the article states "Current customers can keep their existing plan or move to the new plan, with some restrictions."
Do you happen to know what those restrictions might be?

It may be related to "using Verizon’s device payment option, formerly known as Verizon Edge, or by paying the retail price", but that's just a guess. Usually existing customers are allowed to switch to new plans without any issues/consequences; this time it may require that you're out of contract and then enter into a device payment plan or pay full retail. Hopefully that will be clarified once the plans go into effect.

Oh, I was wondering about a current customer with a completely paid for device and month to month service, no 2 year contract. Sorry I didn't specify. I'm sure they will clarify that stuff on the 13th. I was just getting ahead of myself.

I'm curious as well what "with some restrictions" will entail. The monthly line access fee for a basic phone also isn't mentioned in the press release.

I really hope this means that a single line plan will now be given the same "respect" as a More Everything plan was and not continue to be treated as an already discounted "loyalty plan" not eligible for a military discount. I always felt as if I were being punished for not having more than one phone.

This does not seem like a good deal at all.
First the S - M - L - XL are too small to fit those definitions. I am ok with small as minimal 1 GB, but M should be more around 5 GB, L around 10 GB, and XL 15 or even 20 GB.
The continued $15/GB overage is disappointing.
If I was on the 10 GB plan with 2 tablets, and 3 smartphones, that would cost $145 with More Everything, but goes up to $160 on the new plan
With my actual current plan of 30 GB, 2 tablets, and 3 smartphones at $185, I'll be hanging on to that as long as I can until something better comes along.
Other than killing off contracts a disappointment. We will need to be adding 1 additional smartphone in the next several months, I wonder if I should add it now so I am not forced to change plans when I add it later. It will be a BYOD device. Any advice?
