My reception is getting worse each year...?!

My service continues to diminish, going from one bar to none. There were some suggestions that I'd get better service as time went on,  but has not happened . I like VZN wherever I travel, but at home it has become totally useless! What can I do to get better local service without switching to a different carrier? Thanks

Either get a network extender or switch carriers. There's only so much you can do if you live in a dead zone. You can still take Verizon for traveling via VZW prepaid.

Bapa, I am so sorry to hear about the service issues you are experiencing. I completely understand how important it is to have reliable service and I want to do everything that I can to get this resolved. How long has this service issue been happening for? Can you please describe what happens when you make a call, send a text message, and use data without the aid of Wi-Fi when this is happening? What is the zip code to the area that this is happening in?

It has been happening for 8 years, and seems to worsen with time. I guess I tolerated it for quite awhile because I traveled a lot and found Verizon very good elsewhere. Now that I travel less and work and stay home more often, I'm really at the point of changing to someone else because I now need a land line to make calls and send/receive most texts.

I almost always will lose an incoming or outgoing call. Single texts will generally work, but mms texts rarely do. My neighbors laugh at me as I attempt to walk around outside hoping to get two bars on my phone to get or send most texts. I live in zip 60948. Appreciate any help, but at this point I'm not optimistic Verizon is my answer. Sorry, and thanks.  rpw

Do you have Internet service?  What make/model phones do you have?  Have you tried WiFi calling?  Have you looked into a Network Extender or signal booster?

Yes, we have internet service.I have not tried WiFi calling, where is that info. available. I did check into a booster, but  it was expensive with no assurance that it would help. Any special pricing available for dead zones like ours?  Unfortunately, our two local phones are old, Galaxy 3s and a 4..

Your phones are old enough to not have VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling available on them. Have you considered purchasing new phones capable of wifi calling and connecting to more of the LTE frequencies now in use on the Verizon Wireless network? Verizon Wireless is in the process of converting their voice (1xRTT) network and 3G EDVO network to all be LTE. Older phones at some point won't work as well or at all once the older network is shutdown.

Yes, we had planned on updating our phones this summer. That's what took us down the path of asking ourselves, "if we're getting new phones, shouldn't we get them on a network that we can use them." New phones with the inability to use them didn't make too much sense to us.

OK, so where do I find out more about whether a new phone will work using WiFi or VOLTE in my area?

Have visitors to your location who already have newer phones test the network while they are visiting.

Bapa,

Eight years is way too long to experience service issues, especially around the area you use the service the most. The last thing we want is to lose you as a customer. I am eager to help you improve your network experience.

We appreciate all the great details you have provided us. I see that you do have older model phones (Galaxy S3 and S4) that do not have some of the newer capabilities such as Wi-Fi calling which I am confident would help you.

I would like to take a closer look at your local network through your account and see what we can do about a network extender. Since you have mentioned you are looking to upgrade this summer, I'd be happy to check on the best deals for you as well. I have sent you a private message so we can go over the details.
