Nothing, short of changing your number.

TELCOLADY01, we are sorry to hear that your phone number may have been used for spoofing. Allow us the opportunity to further go over the details. Spoofing is not caused by an error in the network or your phone. Spoofing usually happens when the calling party uses a paid service (like Spooftel, Spoofer or Spoof Card), which allows the calling party to change the message sent as Caller ID. You will be able to report this concern directly with the Federal Consumer Complaint center (FCC). Please follow this link http://bit.ly/2yhDVpG to do so and select “Unwanted calls (including do not call and spoofing)” in the phone issues section. I truly hope this information is beneficial.

It concerns us to hear this, as we are always more than willing to help, SJSooze. It is highly encouraged to send a report to the Federal Consumer Complaints center (FCC) using the link attached previously, as we work together with them to ensure that these types of calls are stopped. There are no charges for this report, and you will not have to worry about any extra expenses.

No? Spoofing is done on ALL carriers. The spoofer makes calls from their computer that uses a program to hide their actual number. None of this is exclusive to Verizon.
Had the same issues with Sprint and T-Mobile.
