More Everything Plan - More Data - Drop Line Access Fee

My More Everything Plan contract ends May 21, 2016, I plan to continue month to month and have no reason to upgrade my LG2 phone. From reading other conversation am under the impression I need to contact you to have the $40 dropped from my bill which I will do. Am in the process of traveling extensively which will increase my need for more data. To be sure Verizon can give me what I need am thinking of increasing the current 500mb ($20) to 6 or 8GB. This will also allow me the opportunity to use my cell as a hotspot for my tablet. However, I will not need the increased data as an ongoing service -- maybe 2 months then back to my original 500mb for a couple of month before changing again.

Am wondering if I can increase and decrease the amount of data needed through my online account. My billing cycle run from the 3rd to the 2nd of the next month. Do I need to make the data changes on the 3rd to be sure it is not added to the previous bill (example, traveling begins March 10th when do I make the data change so it will begin March 10th and billing reflect this).

Hope this isn't too confusing. Trying to get something to fit my needs and pocketbook.... with the $40 dropping soon will be able to afford more data.

Hello there, YodaRules. I appreciate your question about your plan. The great news is you can definitely increase and decrease your data allowance through My Verizon. I do it with my plan. I’ve found it to be a very convenient option!

Thank you Verizon Wireless Customer Support for letting me know that I can increase and decrease my data online. Please answer about the billing question..... How far in advance do I need to make the changes online to keep from billed for a month I do not need it. Example if my increased data needs are March 10 - May 1 when do I make the online increase and decrease so that I am not billed for February or May (my bill date is the 3rd).

We definitely want to ensure that you're kept up to date on when the changes would need to be made. You may make the changes in the previous bill cycle. You will simply need to future date the order.

For example: Data use increase for the month of March may be made during your Feburary bill cycle that ends March 3rd. You'd future date the plan to start March 4th.

You do understand there will still be an access fee for that phone after contract runs out you would be eligible for a $25 discount for month to month making your access fee for that phone $15.

You should also be prepared to have to one of the new S, M, L or XL plans which have different pricing than the More Everything plan.

The 40 dollars does not go away.   If your on a 10gb plan or higher you get 25 dollars off,  if your under 10gb you only get 15 dollars off.      You can keep your more everything plan.

the Line access fee is different depending on your plan And data pool.

ON More everything with 500 MB data plan your access fee is $25.  But in 6 GB or higher it's only $15.

ON the Verizon plan it's a flat $20 with no 2 year upgrade (which will go away soon anyway)

THere is no 500 MB plan anymore.  Once you leave it, you can only go back to the 1 GB plan for $30

SO in the long run, the Verizon plan is cheaper by $5, but increasing your plan will mean you cant go back to the $20 plan.  Net increase of $5, but double the data.

When to increase:  any time during the billing period when you are traveling.  When you change the data, you can pick to start immediate, backdate for the whole billing, for start with the next billing cycle.  As long as you update during the billing cycle you can cover your use.  Same when you come back, you can look at your actual use and decide when to reduce your data.

BE aware that your plan covers use in the USA, not Europe or Caribbean.
