I don't have a landline, only a mobile service, but someone told me that I could use a landline type phone by using a special kind of adapter that converts the signal into a landline signal. has anyone done this? if so, what type of adapter do you use?

I think that would be called Verizon Wireless Home Phone Service.

What is your reason for this? If it is for something which requires a landline such as a security system/fax/etc... there are some things which Verizon's Wireless Home Phone is not compatible. You should check into this before you make any purchase.
