How to correct outgoing Caller ID info?

I have an area code 202 phone number.  When I call a landline number, what they see in their caller ID is "District of Colombia", which is a misspelling of "District of Columbia".  I would ideally like to have them seen my last name and first name (as I used to be able to do before I ported from Sprint) but at the very least I'd like them to see the correct spelling of D.C.

How can this be fixed?  I just called customer service and they told me that they can't fix this.  While it may be true that I cannot be fixed without escalating it, it cannot be that this misspelling is hard-wired and can never be corrected.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

You cannot change this. It is control Landline side.  Best you could do is call your local land line company and put in ticket to correct the spelling. But as far as your name. Again controled by your local landline.

If it is controlled by the landline company, then why did it change when I ported from Sprint to Verizon?

I have the same problem, my wife has AT&T and she has made each one of our kids phone show up with the right name on the called ID when they call from their cell phone to a land line, but I asked her to help me with my Verizon phone and she can't figure it out, if we can get a Verizon person to answer this, I'm sure there has to be some way to change it.  Don't tell me that AT&T is better then Verizon, otherwise I'll have to eat crow.

Verizon needs to update the CNAM entry in the LIDB database.

I was an Alltel customer that was transfered into Verzon, once they completed the transfer I lost my entry also. So far Verizon has failed to address the issue. It's a simple database issue and apparently Verizon doesn't care about their customers as much as Alltel did. Alltel allowed you to customize the entry, by default it was your LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME. Now with verizon it just shows up with the City and State of your mailing address.

I moved two lines from Sprint to a new Verizon account. I added my wife to my account, porting the number from Alltel. All of the names show up on my land line caller ID. They even kept my wife's name on her number; the other two show up with my name. Obviously they have the capability to do something.

I have the same problem with my Verizon Wireless account: No caller id on outbound calls. The rest of my family has AT&T Wireless and their Caller ID appears when they call me. I would like to know the answer to this one too!!
