How do I remove the Verizon instructions from end of my customized greeting?

Hello everyone.  I've called Verizon repeatedly about this one and they say they can't help.  I want to remove the Verizon system message from the end of my customized greeting and reduce the number of rings (currently 5) before my callers can leave a message.  The whole thing is annoying and unprofessional and my colleagues hate it too.  You know what I mean. It's the "At the tone, please record your message.  When you have finished recording you may hang up or press 1 for more options" that's driving you crazy too.  The only carrier so far to not force some version of this feature on consumers is AT&T.  I'm switching if I can't get rid of the rings and robot voice!!

You may have to switch if it's that important to you. I don't know why it would be considered unprofessional since most company voicemail boxes give automated instructions also. But at any rate if tech support said it can't be done then you may need to find a provider that offers what you're looking for.

I understand the importance of ensuring you have the services you need UpnGo. At this time we do not have the ability to remove the automated voice greeting from voicemail. Please know that we certainly do not want to lose you. If you record your own personal greeting do you still get the automated message?

Thank You,

You Mail or Google voicemail - both free, and no instructions.

The system message continues to follow my customized greeting, as it does

for all my friends and colleagues who have Verizon wireless. We all

dislike it, and no one has figured out a way to remove it so far.

You can't remove it. And to the best of my knowledge the same thing happens with most other wireless carriers. You can use a 3rd party system to eliminate it such as was suggested by another poster. Or if you know of a wireless carrier that doesn't have it and they fit all of your other needs then you might want to consider switching to them.

I was able to get rid of it when I had Sprint.

You CAN get rid of ALL the Verizon bloat at the end of your personal greeting. I suggest doing it from a landline phone with the cell phone turned off, so you can easily test until you get it just right.

Call your cell number from a landline phone, then get into the personal options menu. It will take some trial & error to get everything the way you want it. Took me about 15 minutes of back & forth to get everything just right. Now when someone calls, all they hear is "Hi, this is ____, please leave a message, BEEP." I just love it, & more people actually leave a message cause they don't have to listen to that whole speel.

The only thing you can't change is the number of rings. At least 6-7 rings are necessary to make sure your phone will ring at least 4-5 times. Your phone usually doesn't always start ringing immediately so this buffer is necessary, especially in a weak signal condition.

It may help those that want to do this if you share more details on what exactly you did to achieve it. What prompts you chose for example.

Ugh, I did this a couple months ago & don't remember exactly what I changed. It did take quite a while to make it work right & using a landline made it a lot easier.

I also removed all the message retrieval bloat & programmed my phone so I only have to push one speed dial button to hear my messages. I just added an additional phone number to the default voice mail entry (Use YOUR 10 digit cell number instead of the default *86) & added the icon to my home page.

i.e. You basically program your phone to dial yourself, then insert a comma, then your 4 digit password, then #, followed by another comma & then the number 1.
