How do I force my phone to use wireless calling instead of the cellular network?

I recently made an overseas trip where I made use of Wireless calling and it worked great for me there and I configured my phone to prefer it over roaming if Wireless was available which was a great option. Now that I'm home I would like to do the same thing because my Verizon Wireless coverage is very poor here at the house, barely usable. However I don't see any way to configure my phone to do the same thing where it will use the wireless over the cellular network if the wireless is available. What am I missing? Right now it continues to try to use the cellular network which again is barely usable at best.

Are you referring to WiFi calling as opposed to cellular network calling?  What make/model phone are you using?

Yes I should have said Wi-Fi calling and I'm on a Samsung S5 running 6.0.1

What about putting it in Airplane Mode when you want to force it to use WiFi?  There is a Poll asking a related question at

Actually have tried it but gotten some mixed results. First when I go into

Airplane Mode, it shuts off WiFi if I had it running, so I have to restart

it....pain.... Then when I tried to make a call several times it would pop

up a message saying I had to turn Airplane mode off to make a

call....pain....and not sure why. And several times folks calling me went

direct to vmail when calling me. Sounds bit like WiFi calling was not

working even when I was connected. We just got FTTH and have what should

be a very good Inet connection now. And I'm using 2.4G with usually full

4 bars.

But yes with Airplane mode on, I can make and receive WiFi calls it seems.

Just a PITB to have to keep switching WiFi and Airplane mode on and off

every time I leave or arrive at home. Was hoping there may be some way for

the phone to intelligently prefer and switch to WiFi calling if it was

available, similar to the option I did find where if I was Roaming, it

would not use cellular network if WiFi was available. I had asked VZW

about installing a pico-cell in the house but they hedged saying I should

simply use WiFi calling feature in my phone. I thought it would work

smoother than it seems to....

Thanks for response.
