How do I find someone to resolve an oddball situation

Hey All...I'm hoping someone can help and I promise to be as brief as possible.

I have an account with an old flip phone for my wife and a new personal IPhone 4s for me (my company supplied me a blackberry).  My company is now providing me with an IPhone, so I want to transfer my personal IPhone to my wife.

Unfortunately, Verizon won't let me transfer the phone number from her phone to the IPhone without paying $300 to cancel my existing contract.

I have been a customer for more than a decade and I don't believe this is some evil conspiracy...it just falls between the cracks of their current policies.

The reality is that I can switch to Sprint, get a $240 buyback credit for my IPhone 4s and end up with a better plan than I have right now.  But the truth is that I don't really want to change providers...just move a phone number.

Thus my choice is to pay Verizon $300 to get the phone number moved or switch to Sprint and get a better package for about $60 (these costs are above the monthly service charges).

Does anyone know the contact info for an escalation department at Verizon?  Every large company has them, the trick is knowing where to call.

You have 2 contracts yours and hers. One of them has to be cancelled. She may not even be on contract anymore. Cancelling a contract involves a ETF. I'm not sure why you think you're entitled to ends a contract without an ETF because you want to. You agreed to the ETF when you signed your contract. You expect Verizon to live up to it's part of the contract you signed don't you? Why aren't you supposed to live up to yours? Why not cancel her number an just let her have your old number and phone?

Perhaps it's just me misunderstanding, but is there any reason you can't just... esn swap, putting your iphone on her line and her old phone on your line? Nothing's being cancelled doing this, so no termination fee would apply.

He doesn't needs his line because his work is giving him a phone. So he only wants ONE line for his personal use now. As I said he should give his phone to her and she can just tell everyone she got a new number.

Hey brian, you need to de-obama your thought processes.

I never said i was entitled to anything.  I was asking if anyone knows how to grt to Verizon's escelation department.  I can't just give her my phone with the new number because she has MS, and the disease has messed up her ability to remember new numbers.

My justification to them will be simple economics.  It will cost me $300 to give her my Iphone and have her old number ported over through Verizon. OR it will cost me around $60 to shut off Verizon and sign a new account with sprint.

If Verizon wants to keep a customer that, in more than a decade, has never been a day late or a dollar short, they can work with me in getting around this oddball situation.  If they don't, then i will switch to a different provider.

I just think that they deserve a chance to keep my business, thus i am trying to get to a customer service level that can actually work outside their general policies.

So if anyone knows how to reach this department, i would be forever greatful.

It might take a while for someone who has to respond.  Some posters ask a question once and never come back.  Others don't know the answer.  Did you search the community for any similar questions related to that particular department?

Some have suggested that you call customer service and ask for the Rentention department, or Executive Relations, so you could try that.

In theory, with 90+M subscribers, and with two lines you are not a high-value customer, I would think you would be told, thanks, enjoy Sprint.  But I am constantly amazed by the success stories posted here, so well worth a try!

Maybe I'm missing something but if transferring his phone to his wifes line generates an ETF of his contract, why doesn't "shut off Verizon" (his words) "and sign a new contract with Sprint", also generate an ETF?
