Given wrong info and Verizon will not fix the problem!

Called Verizon last week as my current contract expired today! Wanted to go to 2 Edge phones with 10GB More plan. Wanted to switch over today so I would not have to return my current phones as I can sell them for way more than the $20 Verizon will give me. Also needed to switch account to wifes name as her employer discount is $15 more/month! Was told to order the Edge phones then so I will have them ready to activate today. Then call today and have the account switched over to her name for the discount.

NOW being told I cannot switch account over as they already processed the Edge order and cannot just change the paperwork for them. I MUST take them to the nearest store 50 miles away so THAT STORE can cancel the Edge orders and sign new orders in her name. They will have me keep the SAME 2 phones, just a paperwork change..

So bottom line is a Verizon employee gives us false info, only a  "store" can fix it as Verizon "corporate" office cannot change paperwork, so we are to just bend over and take it wasting our time and gas. A phone company that cannot do business over the phone just in person???

So be warned, VERIZON WILL NOT stand behind advice given  by their own employees!!!

Time for AT&T

P.S. Forgot to mention in the 20-30 minutes between phone calls to different departments one of their "employees" cancelled my scheduled 5/21 change to the More 10GB plan. Does it ever end???

I'm very disappointed to see you've gone through so much trouble with your new phones and account changes, vtail50. We want our customers to receive all the correct information the first time you speak with us and definitely don't want to lose you. You don't need to go to a store http://bit.ly/3SdsA to swap the account to your wife's name then begin an Edge agreement for eligible lines, but the original EDGE phones would need to be returned using the prepaid labels that can be printed at www.VerizonWireless.com/printlabel to cancel the agreement without going into the store. Once the devices are returned, our Assumption of Liability Team http://bit.ly/JG6iOD can complete the switch in names and get you to a representative to upgrade your devices. You can also change your plan anytime through My Verizon http://bit.ly/xB4iTc if you need to increase to the 10GB More Everything plan.

Great answer. NOT

Verizon is a Phone company. Entire transaction was done through their phones and their employees, never signed any paperwork except online. Now they want us to drive 50 miles one way to their store to fix their mistakes or use snail mail and maybe get this all fixed in 10 days or more? No one seems to have the common sense or computer experience to send my wife the exact emails for the phones (she signed for the delivery at her work anyways!), then cancel the paperwork that is in my name. It makes NO sense for the company to go through all that time and expense of switching phones just so we bow down to their demands. And they won't come out and tell me there is a $35 fee to return each phone due to their error! Just a surprise easter egg for later I guess.

Thought we were the CUSTOMERS??

Verizon is 50 miles, AT&T is 10 miles and I can get the phones and contract for the same cost TODAY?

What would you do?

Nice try but the link you gave has NO option to print return label.

Says" The return period has expired for this device."

Was only mailed to me 5/15, delivered Monday!

Will I have to pay a restocking fee for Verizon's false advice?

I never had to switch the account to my wife's name to get an employer's discount.  The account is in my name, but I used my wife's work info and was able to easily get an employer's discount.  Not sure why you thought you had to put the account in her name.

Because that is what I've been told by 6 different Verizon reps and supervisors. Also support that responded above never told me that. Just got off the phone with my wife and she just got a validation number so hopefully as you said this will work.

Sounds like Verizon needs to work on their customer service training.

Thank for the helpful info RushFan2112

You will pay it if you return the devices. This is standard practice.

Verizon is now noted for not giving customer service as of just 3 years ago. A pity I must say.

You cannot believe one answer from any of the people you speak with at Verizon wireless. Sort of like Russian Roulette which it should not be.

What you get from this site is basically spin doctoring, you get better answers from the other customers on this forum than from Verizon paid employees.

Good Luck
