Got a recording when calling a friend that the number had been changed, disconnected or is no longer in use. Customer service said they can't give me new number and that the accounts status has been changed. What are the different account statuses and what do they mean? How do I get the new phone number?

You need to contact your friend somehow. VZW is not permitted to hand out number changes just because you want it.

If they were such a good friend they would have given you their new number.

Hint: if they changed their number and *didn't* give you the new number, they probably changed it so you'd STOP CALLING/TEXTING THEM.
It is, by far, the most common reason anyone changes their phone number nowadays. Of course Verizon can't give you their new number.

Or could it be that the line has been disconnected for non-payment or something. I assume VZ can't give out that type of info either, so there may not be a new number at all.

Perhaps, but if it was me I would at least notify my friends that my phone doesn't work.
