So you would rather have a limited shared data plan instead of an unlimited data plan for the same price? I guess VZ is counting on more customers like you.
he didn't say that's what HE wants, be he is correct in that MANY people have been asking for this.

Many customers also asked to keep unlimited, so why didn't VZ keep that.
My point is don't insult your customer, it's about profits and not about what the customer wants.

actually it should be about both
give your customers what they want, keep them happy, and they will buy more from you.
dont offer what they want, get them mad, you lose them as customers

All customers didn't want unlimited, because it cost more than they wanted to pay for data.
It seems that you think that everyone wants what you want, and that is not the case. There are around 93 million customers on Verizon Wireless. All of them won't like sunny days, let alone unlimited data.
This isn't my company, so the customers aren't mine to insult. You seem to be on the attack toward other forum posters. I would prefer unlimited data over any other options. Shared plans make little sense for me, as I am the only person on my account. The only way that shared plans would benefit me is if I had more than one device on an account, and I don't.
Edited to add: I also provided a link to a thread that showed that there were some customers asking for shared data. Here is another one. I have proof that there are customers who wanted this. While I may disagree with them, I'm not going to deny that they exist.

You're still missing the point - it's about what VZ thinks will increase profits and not about what the customer wants.
To use your analogy, if customers want cloudy days or sunny days or snowy days, why doesn't VZ offer that and price it accordingly? VZ is not in the business of giving every customer exactly want they want - no company could possibly do that.
They're in business to make a profit for themselves and their shareholders - pure and simple.
Going back to the original heading, Netflix thought they would increase profits by splitting their streaming and DVD business. They were WRONG, they lost over 800,000 customers in the first quarter following their announcement and eventually dropped the ill conceived idea.
Time will tell if VZ got it right (increase profits) or like Netflix and lose customers.

Your title makes one point that doesn't call on me, as an individual, to address. Your post made a point that no one that you know wanted shared data. I presented facts that showed that there are folks that you don't know who do want shared data. That is my point.
VZW will offer what they think customers will buy. They may be right or they may be wrong; time will tell on that. It's not cost-efficient for a company to have the widest array of service offerings possible. There are back-end costs to maintain the systems that will keep track of billing. There are personnel costs associated with training CSRs and sales reps on the different plans. If VZW offered unlimited data, individual tiered data and shared tiered data, this would create a lot of confusion among the staff and among the customers.
As a customer, I would love to see VZW offer exactly what I want, and forget about what everyone else wants if it is something different. As an adult with common sense, I realize that VZW isn't going to do that. If I can be content with VZW's offerings, they will get my business. If I'm not content, then VZW won't get my business. There are other national postpaid carriers, prepaid carriers and regional carriers that I could get service from. I vote with my wallet on a monthly basis. Many customers will do the same.

To have a successful company you need both happy customers AND profits. If you have all happy customers but no profits, soon you're out of business. If you try to make all profits and don't care at all about having happy customers, soon all your customers leave and you have no profits and again you're out of business. So like I said in my first sentance, a successful must have both happy customers AND profits.
And the old saying is true,
"You can please all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you can't please all the people all the time."
Best of luck to all of us,

If VZW offered unlimited data, individual tiered data and shared tiered data, this would create a lot of confusion among the staff and among the customers.
Just like how it causes confusion with the 7 voice plans and 6 texting plans it has now?
Voice Minutes
--------------------------------
single line charges
$39.99 450 mins
$59.99 900 mins
$69.99 unlimited
Family Share Plans
$69.99 700 mins
$89.99 1400 mins
$99.99 2000 mins
$119.98 unlimited
-------------------------------------------------------------
Texting plans
$5.00 250 texts
$10 500 texts (unlimited m2m texting)
$15 1500 texts (unlimited m2m texting)
$20 5000 texts (unlimited m2m texting on 1 line if u have a fam share plan )
$20 unlimited (if you have a single line)
$30 unlimited (if you have a fam share plan)
but then lets add some newer plans that's coming out (not counting the $10, $20, $30 and $40 device fees)
$60 for unlimited talk txt and 2gb of data
$70 for unlimited talk/text and 4gb of data
$80 for unlimited talk text and 6 gb of data
$100 for unlimited talk text and 10 gb of data
I didn't even add that $50 plan cause with the calculator thing with JUST 1 smart phone it automatically gives u the $60 plan + $40 smart phone fee so $100
that sure is a lot of confusion for the sales reps

People have been asking for a less data plan too so they didn't have to pay $30 for every device when they hardly used the data which Verizon gave them but at the SAME price i hardly think the customers wanted to pay same price for less I think when they asked for less data they were thinking something like say maybe 2-3 gb for $5 or $10
