Description

I went to the Verizon store on Nov 5th 2013 looking to get
two phones.  One new contract and upgrade
an existing line.  On Nov 4th I talked to
a customer service rep the night before going to the store.  She told me I would be able to buy a new
phone with a contract and be able to forward that phone number to my other phone
in an attempt to not use many minutes on that line.  She also told me when I forwarded the phone,
it would have a different ring to let me know which phone was being called. I
talked to a rep in the store Nov 5th trying to buy and set up the phone like
the phone rep said, didn't happen.  The
rep in the store said it wasn't possible and he didn't know why the phone rep
misinformed me and gave me other options to get service.  I then went outside to call customer service
again about the problem and of course spoke to a new rep.  This rep told me what the store rep said was
true so I went with the suggestion of the store rep.  Also while talking to the customer service
rep, I asked about any financing plans they had.  She told about the edge program and she said
that I could get it.  I told her I had an
old unlimited plan and didn't want to give it up.  She said I didn't have to give it up to do
the edge plan.  I go back into the store
to finish my business with this information.
I got a new phone with a plan.
The next thing was the upgrade.
The rep in store told me I wouldn't be able to get the edge program
without giving up my unlimited data and unlimited hotspot and again he didn't
know why the customer service rep said that. 
I was in the store almost 4 hours trying to get those things resolved.  Both of the phone reps wasted my time and
money.  The customer service reps lied to
me about services and Verizon's policies.
I was given a $50 credit for my trouble.

Settlement Description

I just wish to let everyone know that customer service reps
for Verizon Wireless lies about services and plans in an attempt to get people
to sign contracts and get phones!  I
should've been able to get the upgrade with the financing after all the trouble
and time they cost me.

Unlimited Data is gone.  You have to keep using your own phone, or purchase a brand new phone to keep this legacy plan.

I understand that now.  At the time I went in to make the purchase, I didn't know.  I was under the impression that the edge program was a finance option.  It didn't say anywhere on Verizon's website or brochures in the store stating you would have to get a shared data plan to finance a phone.  Go to explore on here and you at what it says and let me know if that sounds like false advertisement or not.

The Device Payment Plan would have been the option to make payments and keep your unlimited data plan. It is different from the Edge program.

Thanks Ann.  I checked and the other plan you're talking is just a payment plan.  If I can't find any other place to buy other than Verizon, I'll use that plan.  Thanks again!

The Device Payment Plan is only available at the Verizon Wireless corporate stores.

One other thing you might check at your local store on the VZ Edge plan is the Max promo when I was asking about the plan this last Friday the assistant manager at the store that i visit said that option was available which give's a customer 6 GB's on there plan one other thing she added if I was to go with the plan I would have to turn in my current cell-phone..

What I was suggesting  W.C. was a part of the VZedge  Max promo if it's still available.. If the OP wanted to keep his Unlimited what Ann154 recommended is the way of doing that..

To Add: This is what the Verizon Assistant store Manager's explained to me on VZedge when i Visited the store..   

The Assistant Manager said if I wanted to pursue getting a new phone I could using VZedge and the Max promo but there are some of things I would have to give up to get the phone that I wanted to purchase..

1. Our account would have to Qualify.. 

2. I would have to give up my current phone I have a  Razr Maxx

3. I would need to pay small fee to take the phone.. The sales tax

4. I could keep the plan I had with one stipulation the Data would change from Unlimited to 6GB.

On Visiting the Web Site today:  it says customer's can get a $100 Gift Card..   *Trade-in Smartphone must be in good condition.
