Does Verizon have a plan for dealing with Simjacker?

I was forced to put this question in Android General, but Simjacker also impacts iOS. And I don't really believe I will get an answer here, but the support system is useless, unless you are trying to do something simple.

So the question is, Does Verizon have a plan to address the Simjacker vulnerability? If so, what is the date that things will be complete? If not, why not?

Do you have to open/read the SMS text message(s) containing the Simjacker code to activate it?  I poked around a little to get some info and didn't see anything  on how to recognize and 'not activate' a potential threat message.  Do you know?

No, The simjack attack exploits system commands on some (most) SIM cards which contain a system browser (SIMalliance Toolbox Browser or S@T) that a carrier can use to send commands to the phone. The user will not know that they have been attacked...everything happens in the background. Search for "simjack" and you can find quite a few articles that explain how it works. If your SIM card is vulnerable, and if Verizon does nothing to filter out binary SMS messages, then there will be pretty much nothing that you can do short of demaninding a different SIM card.
