Daughter's phone stolen at work, have to file a claim

My daughter's phone was stolen/lost at work today. We suspended her service and will file a claim (we have total equipment coverage) tomorrow morning on her phone. If she has an old phone to transfer her number to for tonight and however many days it takes to have a new phone sent, will that affect the filing claim? We assume that we will have to unsuspend the service once her number is transferred to a new device so we didn't want that to affect the claim. She needs to have access to her phone number on an activated phone for work and school.

You should unsuspend service and then you can go to My Verizon>My Device>Activate or Switch Device

Depending on the type of device you want to activate, it should work and if it doesn't it should tell you why it's not.

I take it you were unable to find it via Apple find-a-phone or Android Device Manager?
