Why is Verizon service getting worse? I would think in 2014 I could get service anywhere! I no longer can hold a conversation on my phone, spotty text messaging, and absolutely no data availability.

You would be thinking wrong. Verizon cannot simply place an antenna anywhere they would like. They have to go through local zoning boards and government approval for each and every tower they have or would like to have.

The more politically active and/or "environmentally sensitive" area it is, the harder it is to overcome. I know a couple of locations in close proximity to me which have taken years to gain approval for a single tower.

As time marches forward, it seems it is increasingly harder for them to improve or enlarge their footprint.

I also have had he worest service the last 30 days or so! I live on Long Island and lately can't have a conversation without the calls being dropped and service going from 1X to 3G. I called Verizon and waited for support for 28 minutes before I hung up, and prior to that I got disconnected two times. Whats going on?????? I have used Verizon for the last 15 years. Im thinking I need to look for a better carrier.

It's unfortunate that I can agree that Verizon Wireless Customer Service has gotten worse. There is no reason anyone should be waiting 30 minutes for a representative, only to be told, "We'll have to escalate to. . ." They don't have authority to do anything anymore.

Thanks, ttalk_j. In review of the area, I do see some opportunities depending where you are located in the zip code. Can you please dial *228 and select option 2 to update your preferred roaming list on your iPhone. This will help with the towers you are connecting to.

current zipcode 76374,  Galaxy S III & 2- iphone 4s, calls & messaging, experience the problem everywhere but worse indoors, have to go outside & stand real still in 1 place & sometimes that don't even work. kinda defeats the purpose in having a MOBILE phone. Verizon the most reliable network....HA!
