Chaperone feature

Well I think this is a good idea - I think it needs a little tweaking. I REALLY needed to find my son who did come home for the first time. The person at customer service was VERY nice and helpful as far as she could have been.

I truly feel that being the policy account owner and having to sign and accept everything else concerning contracts and equipment that i should be able to set up any feature I want on any phone on my account. This should also be able to be done remotely. And that the child should not be able to diconnect it in any way. I pay the bill I have to approve everything else. I REALLY think this should be reevaluated.

Any other thoughts by anyone?

How easy would it be for a kidnapper to disable a phone if they knew the network or where to look?

Hello and welcome to the forum!   You raise some good questions.   As the Primary Account holder only YOU can indeed make any changes to your phones in terms of plans and features.    Any kidnapper (God forbid) cannot call verizon and remove the Chaperone feature or any other feature (unless they had your username, password and private account information that verizon would ask to verify it is you).     At best all someone like this could do would be to throw the phone away and no one would have much control over that happening.

In terms of "remotely" updating your features on any phone, you can do that via calling - OR - from your computer if you've signed up for "My Verizon" which is free and I totally encourage everyone to do so.    Verizon also has another feature that you should inquire about which is called "Usage Controls" it's $4.95 but has a wealth of even more features that are designed to control your phone even further than Chaparone.   You can limit the use of your phone in terms of who can contact your child and who your child can contact.   You can control the time of day the childs phone can be used as well as a host of other blocking and restricting items. :smileyhappy:

No i understand, but I was told by vrizon that if someone were to delete the application from the phone it would no longer work. My suggestion is that once it is processed to the phone no matter what it is there wheter or not the application is deleted from the phone or not.

Once i place it on the phone it should not be allowed to be taken off for any reason except by me. I think it is a great idea but just needs to be tweaked a little.

Thanks for the time and response.

I agree with that, that it should be tweaked. But i also think that Chaperone is an unnecessary service.
