Cell Service is Terrible

Cell service in my area is absolutely horrible. I’ve had 4 calls within the past hour dropped/fail. It’s always been pretty bad, but somehow has gotten worse. I do Wireless Calling and it still doesn’t work. I’ve never had more than two bars anywhere in my house and many of my neighbors are experiencing the same problem. There is a post on Nextdoor with over 100 comments about this topic. We pay too much money for cell service to Verizon which is supposed to have the best service nationwide, to not be able to make phone calls. I don’t have a landline at my house, and not being able to make phone calls out (my phone can’t connect to dial out), could be dangerous if a medical emergency occurs. It’s a disaster and I would like an explanation as to why, and how it will be fixed.

I've had TERRIBLE cell service for the past several months for 98661 & 98629. Called support almost a month ago, they did something, but whatever it was did not work. If my husband tries to call, it doesn't go through or show up under recents, so I don't even know if he's trying to call me.  He has to call me on my work land line. Couldn't talk to a work colleague just now. My call failed after 20 seconds. I tried to call him back on the landline and his cell service was so sketchy we couldn't understand one another; he has Verizon as well. He said he's also having a lot of trouble with calls dropping/failing consistently the past several months. Said he'd call me back on my land line using his land line later. Glad it is not an emergency. We both are in the city, which should have good coverage, and has for the past 17 years until just recently. Texts won't go through sometimes either and other times under "delivery", I'll get a "maybe", so I don't know if the person received it or not. If this doesn't clear up by year end, I am seriously considering switching cell service after 30 years w/ Verizon (I had mobile service with them via Cellular One in the early 90's, you know when the phones were giant, like land line phones, compared to what they are now). So, when I say they are going to lose a long term customer, I'm not kidding. I pay way too much for such terrible service. I'd switch now, but have to continue paying on a phone until year end. I stopped buying phones from them on contract, so I can bail whenever I want; just have this one last one (5 members on the plan).

We're in Raleigh NC (27614) and are experiencing extremely poor cell receptions on all of our cell phones inside our home and we are dropping calls all day long on our Wireless home phone.  We have had Verizon for decades. In fact it has been our ONLY cell provider and we were loyal because of its reliability but at this point we are looking at other options. Given the fact that this Wireless Home Phone is our business line, it is more than problematic. It's costing us clients and it's not sustainable. We have tried reaching out to Verizon and have heard crickets from them. The problem only happens in our home (we have lived there for 12 years!!!!!! And had Verizon the ENTIRE time!) We have 2 bars at most in our entire home. We drop calls repeatedly. But if we go outside in the middle of a greenway, we can miraculously conduct business and not drop calls. I never thought we would switch but there's got to be other more reliable options. Verizon has become horrid!

Our loyalty means everything to us, and we are sorry to read that you are having issues with your calls, as we know how important it is to stay connected. Could you tell us what does your signal normally show? Have there been any changes in the area?

I am here in zip code 18013.  Over the last 2 months our cell service has gotten real bad, I used to very happy getting 3 bars of service here at the house, now 1 bar, many times the no service icon comes up.  Dropped calls are the norm on real bad days.  I called Verizon and hooked up with the chat, after about an hour of back and forth, plus the call dropping twice, they asked me to turn on WIFI calling.  Great, that was already turned on.  I was told a ticket would be turned in but still have not heard back.  All the neighbors are getting annoyed also, calling Verizon and stopping at the local store to get answers, so far we still have only bar of service and dropped calls outside of the WIFI area.  A lot of time text messages will come the next day!!!!!!  Come on people this is 2020 not 1920

Hoaglanm, I can understand your concerns with ensuring your calls stay connected and the signal quality seems to be diminishing. I see you mentioned a ticket was entered on your behalf. Similar issue in my town in Washington state been happening for months be in same place not moving or anywhere in town I'm probably a mile from your tower go from full bars to one and in between standard reply when inquiring is no outages in your area I guess one bar constitutes service and no outage new sim card recently past few weeks no better same result I checked at eleven pm midnight etc same result so not a heavy use issue it seems
