This should not be surprising. Experts also say our computer keyboards are some of the worst objects we use daily that bacteria love, more so than a toilet seat!
What I do periodically is use a 50/50 solution of isopropyl alcohol and water, spray it on a soft cloth (never directly on the phone!) and wipe down the phone and case.

Yeah I can see how keyboards could carry bacteria. I try to clean my 2 phones with an alcoholic wipe. Works great.
