Can I 'gift' a line without losing my unlimited data?

I heard that you can "gift" your phone line by transferring the responsibility of the line to someone else. My phoneline is in my boyfriend's name and I want it switched it to my name, without losing my unlimited data. Has anyone done this before? Who do I need to contact?

The local store in Richmond, VA looked at me like I had 2 heads.

brownkl3,

Great question! I understand it's important to have the phone line under your name and I am pleased to confirm you've been pointed in the right direction. The process is called Assumption of Liability (AOL), and you'll find the details here http://vz.to/1ocmabw . Since you would be establishing a new account, you will have to choose from one of our current plans http://vz.to/1lJBFsg .

Tell them you want to do an assumption of liability. Whether or not you can keep your unlimited data, I can't say. Depending on your credit history, you may have to pay up to a $400 deposit for your line.
