My friend broke his phone and I dont need a new one but have an upgrade. Can I get a phone and give it to him? And if I need to get a data package to buy the phone, can I just get the package and cancel it?
Wow--you are a very nice friend, indeed! The only issue you will face is that this is happening (I am assuming) on two different Verizon accounts. So, you would need to do the upgrade, activate the phone on your line, accept the T&C and extend your contract for two years. If the phone requires a data plan, that would be activated as well.
Then, you would reactivate your old phone. If the old phone does not require a data plan, then that would come off of your plan. And your friend could then activate the new phone on his line, and the data plan would be added to his plan.
