There needs to be an option to block restricted numbers from calling you. All I can find is where you can block specific numbers, but that specific number can still call you simply by putting a block on their number. That defeats the purpose of offering that option...

The only thing I can think of is just having calls just from your contacts. Some phones have that option and others don't.Check to see if you have it....
- Settings
- Phone settings
- Security
- Default last 4 digits of your phone number
- Restrictions
- 4 digit code again
- Calls
- Incoming calls
- Contacts Only

YouMail is a free voicemail service that gives you a workaround for dealing with restricted or blocked numbers. It's called "DitchMail" - when it sees a blocked or restricted number, the caller gets a recorded message (yours, or DitchMail's default) saying that you do not accept calls from blocked numbers, please unblock and try again - and then it hangs up without giving the caller an opportunity to leave a message.
It doesn't prevent the call from coming in - but it does deal with it so you don't have to. If you see a blocked number coming in, you can always hit End or Ignore, sending them straight to VM or DitchMail.

I did find where my phone has the option of only accepting calls from contacts. I did set my phone to that for now, but everytime I want to add or update a contact I have to go unlock that to allow all, add my contact, then relock it...kinda a pain...but best I can come up with for now.

You may also setup usage control for $4.99 month. This will allow you to block restricted calls. For more info on Usage controls, click here https://wbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/nos/uc/uc_home.jsp
